The City of Penticton is developing a Beach Accessibility Framework, which aims to remove barriers and improve beach access for all. This Framework is first of its kind to create accessibility standards for beach access, and will provide clear strategies and actions to improve the accessibility of Penticton’s beach areas.

The Framework will be guided by both technical analysis and community input. A team of accessibility consultants will conduct professional site assessments. Additionally, the City will engage with community organizations, the Accessibility Committee, and the public to learn about barriers that users experience at beaches. Through this work, we will create a made-in-Penticton approach to guide improvements to public spaces and support the City’s long-term accessibility goals.

The City is asking residents and visitors to share your input on any barriers you (or the person you care for) experience at Penticton’s beaches, and what amenities and improvements you would like to see. Your feedback will help guide improvements to water access, pathways, public washrooms, seating, signage, shade, and other facilities at Penticton beaches.

How can I participate?

  1. Fill out the feedback form
The form will be open until Sept. 15, 2025. Fill out the survey online, or get a paper copy at the City Hall front desk.

  2. Visit our Farmers' Market booth
City staff will be at the Farmer’s Market on Saturday Sept. 6, 2025 from 10 am – 12 pm.

  3. One-on-one conversations: If you wish to talk with someone about your experience accessing Penticton’s beaches, please contact Karin Pasqua at karin@meaningfulaccess.com. Karin is an accessibility consultant working for the City of Penticton on this project.
