Thank you to everyone who participated in the first phase of engagement for McGregor Park.
McGregor Park is a small neighbourhood park in southwest Penticton. Based on feedback from residents and park users, the City has developed a proposed concept that reflects what we heard during the first phase of engagement.
Residents told us they value McGregor Park as a quiet neighbourhood green space and would like to see modest improvements that enhance play opportunities while preserving the park's open, natural character.
We're now inviting the community to review the proposed concept and share feedback before it is finalized.

Next Steps
After the survey closes, the City will review all feedback and refine the proposed concept. The results will help inform the future design and implementation of improvements at McGregor Park.
PHASE ONE
Project Overview
McGregor Park is a small neighbourhood park located in the southwest area of Penticton. Originally developed in the 1980s, the park is one of the city’s older neighbourhood parks and is due for renewal.
The City is beginning early planning and neighbourhood engagement to better understand how the park is currently used and how it can best serve the neighbourhood moving forward. Feedback gathered through this process will help guide future design options and investment decisions.
This project aligns with the City’s Parks and Recreation Master Plan, Sports and Recreation Needs Assessment and supports Council’s approved capital projects for 2026.
Project Goals
The goal of this project is to establish a clear, community-informed vision for McGregor Park.
Through engagement and planning, the City aims to:
- Understand how the park is currently used
- Identify long-term needs and community preferences
- Explore opportunities to improve the park
- Ensure the space functions well within the surrounding neighbourhood
- Guide future design and investment decisions

About McGregor Park
McGregor Park is classified as a neighbourhood park, intended to serve residents within walking distance and provide a local space for informal recreation and gathering.

- Size: Approximately 0.24 acres (0.10 hectares)

- Mature trees
The park is modest in size and currently supports light, informal use, primarily by nearby families and young children. No design decisions have been made at this stage. Planning efforts will consider the park’s location within a primarily residential neighbourhood, protection of mature trees on-site, and its proximity to nearby amenities such as the former Parkway School site to ensure future improvements complement, rather than duplicate, surrounding amenities. Potential improvements to be explored through engagement may include:
- Play opportunities
- Open green space
- Seating and gathering areas
- Accessibility and pathways
- Enhancements or changes to existing features
Feedback from the upcoming engagement will help determine how the park is currently being used, what improvements are needed, and whether the park should be maintained, enhanced, or reimagined to better meet neighbourhood needs.
