The City is conducting a Sports and Recreation Needs Assessment to help identify current and future needs for sport and recreation infrastructure in the city.

Key topics explored through the study will include:

  • Trends
  • Levels of use
  • Potential facility and amenity gaps
  • Anticipated future growth and emerging space needs
  • Perspectives on current facilities and programming

Your feedback, along with other related research (population demographics analysis, benchmarking, facility reviews, etc.) will provide input into these key topics and ensures potential priorities have been identified using an informed and balanced approach.

Postcards with a unique access code and instructions for use have been mailed to Penticton households. Complete the survey considering all members of your household. Separate surveys will be provided to sports and recreation organizations for their input. Paper copies of the survey are available at the Community Centre (325 Power St.) and City Hall (171 Main St.)

Youth Survey

With the help of SD67, the City of Penticton is fielding a Youth Survey for the Sport & Recreation Needs Assessment. The Youth Survey includes questions about their recreational interests (what sports, activities or programs they participate in), which facilities they use and what facilities they feel should be prioritized. A sample of students in Grade 6 to 12 will be invited to complete the Youth Survey during class time in October/November. All other students in Grade 6 to 12 will have an opportunity to complete the online Youth Survey on their own time through their student accounts.

Parents and guardians can review the survey questions here.

If your child was asked to participate in the survey, a Parent/ Guardian Informed Passive Consent Letter would have been sent home with them. If you do not want your child to complete the Youth Survey, please return the form to your child’s teacher or principal by the deadline on the letter. If your child does not take part, they will work on an activity that is related to their regular schoolwork.
