Happy book with recycling arrows

UPDATE: Thank you for sharing your awareness of Penticton's book recycling program, the questionnaire is now closed. Results are available in the documents section.

On Jan. 25, 2023, the City launched a three-month book recycling pilot program after noticing that residents were placing books into their home recycling carts, which are not accepted by RecycleBC and count as contamination. The campaign involved partnering with ‘Planet Earth Recycling’ to place recycling bins in the lobby of the Penticton Library. One year later, the program is now on target to collect 50,000 lb of books by the end of this 2023, diverting books from the landfill and recycling carts!

Now, the City wants to ensure residents are aware of this program and determine how to promote book recycling options going forward.

The 8-question feedback form will close December 31, 2023.
