Help shape the future of downtown Penticton

The City of Penticton is developing a new Downtown Plan to guide the future of the community's cultural and economic hub. The previous Downtown Plan was completed in 2013, and an updated plan is needed to reflect the changes, opportunities, and challenges that have emerged over the past decade.

The new plan will establish a long-term vision for downtown and help guide future growth, investment, and improvement projects.

In July 2026, Council endorsed the Downtown Plan Framework, which will guide the project as we work toward completing the final plan by late 2027.

The Documents tab contains the 2013 Downtown Plan and the Downtown Plan Framework for those interested in learning more about the project and the steps ahead.

How can I participate?

Community engagement will take place in multiple phases throughout the development of the Downtown Plan. Based on feedback received, we will scope future rounds of engagement to further explore key focus areas, which could include topics like land use, public spaces, infrastructure, parking, and community safety.

Phase 1 is focused on listening and learning. We want to better understand:

  • What people value most about downtown today
  • Where gaps exist
  • What opportunities people see to make downtown even better in the future

The survey will open on Monday, August 17, 2026. This page will be updated as the project progresses.

Downtown city-owned parking lot improvements

While parking is one element that will be explored through the Downtown Plan process, Council also heard about upcoming improvements to City-owned downtown public parking lots at its July 14, 2026 meeting. Details about those improvements are available in the council report included in the document section to the right.
