Phase 3
New draft concept plans for the KVR Trail are now ready for community review and feedback. These concepts have been developed based on input received during Phase 1 & 2 engagement in 2025, along with ongoing analysis and technical review.
The concept plan focuses on maintaining a connected and consistent feel throughout the KVR Trail, while reflecting the unique character of the different areas it passes through by dividing the corridor into six distinct “Character Areas.” These Character Zones were created to help tailor improvements, amenities, and experiences to the specific context, landscape, and community priorities of each section of the trail.

We’re seeking your feedback to help ensure the plan reflects what matters most to the community. Your input will be used to refine the plan and inform the final stages of the strategy.

Phase 1
The City of Penticton is developing a KVR Trail Strategy to shape the future of the Kettle Valley Rail Trail through Penticton. This plan will guide how the trail is improved, celebrated, and better connected to support recreation, transportation, tourism, and community wellbeing.
As the community grows and trail use increases, the City wants to make sure the trail continues to serve residents and visitors in safe, accessible, and inspiring ways. The strategy will:
Identify key improvements for trail infrastructure and access
Explore ideas for wayfinding, amenities, and safety
Highlight opportunities for community events, storytelling, and heritage
Consider how the trail connects across neighbourhoods, nature, and culture
Provide an action plan for future investment and stewardship
