Responsible consumption of alcohol pilot project

Consultation has concluded

The results of the pilot project including the community survey are now available. See a summary in the Newsfeed below and the actual results in the Documents section.

As part of a pilot project, responsible alcohol consumption is allowed at designated parks and beaches from June 3 to July 4, 2020 between 12 noon and 8 p.m. This is in support of the Love Local Penticton campaign aimed to encourage outdoor activities amid COVID-19.

All residents have the opportunity to provide feedback until June 24 and the results will be shared with Council at their meeting on July 7. An online survey is now posted to this page and paper copies are available at City Hall. Please take some time to observe activities at these locations in preparation for sharing your feedback.

The locations included in this pilot project are:

  • Marina Way Park
  • Okanagan Beach(east of Power St.)
  • Okanagan Lake Park
  • Rotary Park

Anyone wishing to participate in the pilot project is reminded of the following:

  • Public intoxication is not permitted and will be prosecuted.
  • You must be 19 years or older to purchase and consume alcohol in B.C.
  • Littering of glass, bottles or cans will result in a fine.
  • Please enjoy responsibly!

    The City of Penticton is conducting a pilot project to allow responsible alcohol consumption in designated public places. As part of the pilot project, the City is gathering feedback from the community. Residents are invited to visit the locations of the pilot project and complete this form to share their feedback. Feedback will be gathered between June 10 and 24 and the results will be shared with Council at their meeting on July 7.
